Reciprocity

This site, the marketing philosophy behind it and the way that marketing is moving in society is centered around the principals of reciprocity. One of the Wikipedia definitions for reciprocity is "Mechanisms for the evolution of cooperation". I like this definition as it is the basis of what I believe, and have known to be the case, putting in place mechanisms that enables people to cooperate with each other is a powerful thing. Using each others strengths and figuring out equitable ways that you can share the risk and the reward makes for strong, profitable, long term relationships. This site and the structure of it is designed to promote communication and participation. Build a community around the directory, give free listings to everyone to start, share your information and news in it, make comments and engage with your audience, encourage local churches, community centers, civic parties and others to create and maintain a presence on the website with you. It will build reciprocity for you, and later when you do have an offer, it will be much better received since you've given them profile and free advertising in your community.
